Irish Tales of Mystery and Magic - Eddie Lenihan
Illustrated by the award winning Alan Clarke

A beautifully illustrated collection by seanchaí Eddie Lenihan, which will charm, entertain and amuse children of all ages. From the story of Fionn McCumhaill and the Mermaids, to King Cormac’s Fighting Academy, these stories tell of the adventures and bravery of the ancient Irish heroes in the face of scary and spooky challenges.

One night a feast was going strong in the banqueting hall of Tara – great merriment, noise, laughter and the rest of it – but King Cormac was sitting morosely in the middle of it all, his head in between his hands.

‘Ohh! All the stories that are here, I have heard them before, and I’m sick of it. If there was only some new man who could tell me something I didn’t hear already I’d be happy. And he’d be rich!

Suddenly over the noise of the merrymaking, pounding was heard on the front door.

‘Open that quick’ said Cormac, but without much hope. ‘It might be a stranger with a new story’

The door was thrown open and in strode a tall sunburnt man.

‘And who are you at all? If you have a story for us this night you’re the guest of honour, because we’re starved for a fresh tale!’

‘Hah! Story, is it? That’s the very thing I have, and a story ye didn’t hear the like of it before, either,’ said the stranger confidently.

‘Aha! My prayers are answered. Bring him a bite to eat, quick, so he can start the telling!’ said Cormac.
